A great video of the recently opened Vienna production of Mary Poppins. The show, which uses the US tour staging here (fold-out house, "Playing the Game"), is as charming as ever and the production is an excellent one. The adult leads are all fantastic - the standout for me being David Boyd, who is one of the best Berts I've seen - and the children are adorably precocious and interact very well with Annemieke and David. The video is shot from the circle with no obstructions and an excellent view of the stage. It follows the action very well and captures both the big numbers and the more intimate moments in the best way possible. Missing the second half of "Let's Go Fly a Kite".
Matilda - February 1, 2012 – West End

Cast: Sophia Gennusa (Matilda), Bertie Cravel (Miss Trunchbull), Lauren Ward (Miss Honey), Lesli Margherita (Mrs. Wormwood), Gabriel Ebert (Mr. Wormwood)
Notes: A few bloopers, like when Sophia doesn't get her book out on time and uses her hands, Gabriel Ebert drops his cigarette and John Arthur Greene trips over the letter "I" in School Song.
Matilda - May 9th, 2013 - Shubert Theatre, Broadway
Bailey Ryon (Matilda), Bertie Carvel (Miss Trunchbull), Lauren Ward (Miss Honey), Lesli Margherita (Mrs. Wormwood), Gabriel Ebert (Mr. Wormwood), Phillip Spaeth (Rudolpho), Karen Aldridge (Mrs Phelps), Jake Broderick (Bruce), Frenie Acoba (Lavender). Great show with a very enthusiastic audience. There are heads at the bottom of the screen sometimes because people kept leaning forward and some shaky moments, but mostly a focused steady shot with nice close-ups.

Elise Blake (Matilda), Emily Robins (Lavender), James Gardner (Nigel), Ruby McNamara (Amanda), Ashton-Henry Reid (Eric), Tallulah Treadaway (Alice), Talia Palamathanan (Hortensia), Jamie Kaye A full stage shot of the show, it is of similar quality to the Chloe videos. Full Act 1 except some parts of Bruce and Naughty were cut and Act two is only When I Grow Up and Quiet. Two heads keep getting in the way but there was nothing you could do about that. Great sound, Pretty good quality

Oona is a darker, more brooding Matilda and it works well. The first act is nearly perfect and unobstructed, second act’s escapologist scene (~3 minutes) is audio only and there is some slight head obstruction at times during the second act.
Matilda – August 23, 2014 - Broadway
Ripley Sobo. A nice capture overall. There are two blackouts in act one: two minutes during the first Wormwood scene, and three minutes during the first Library scene. During act two, Telly is blacked out while the house lights are on; video starts at Lavender’s entrance. There is one head center stage, but it’s worked around fairly well and rarely affects the action. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes curtain call and playbill scans.

There are a few heads at the bottom of the screen, but they are easily worked around so they rarely affect the action. There are some quick dropouts in each act, and Telly is audio only while the house lights are on, but there are no other major blackouts. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes curtain call, encore, and playbill scans.
Matilda – January 1, 2015 eve Broadway
Tori Feinstein (Matilda), Alison Luff (Miss Honey), Christopher Sieber (Miss Trunchbull), Matt Harrington (Mr. Wormwood), Lesli Margherita (Mrs Wormwood), Karen Aldridge (Mrs. Phelps), Alex Brightman (Michael Wormwood), Phillips Spaeth (Rudolpho), Grace Capeless (Lavender), Mitchell Sink(Bruce), Jonah Halperin (Nigel), Beatrice Tulchin (Amanda), Christian Michael Camporin (Eric), Alexa Shae Niziak (Alice), Ava DeMary (Hortensia), Chris Sumpter (Tommy), Geoff Packard (Doctor/Sergei/The Escape Artist), Jennifer Bowles (The Acrobat), Sean Montgomery (Party Entertainer).
An excellent capture of Tori as Matilda. She’s a very impressive young actress, and has her own fresh take on the role. The rest of the cast is solid as well; I believe this is the first capture of Alison Luff, and she steps into the show beautifully.
This is very nicely captured with no washout, no major blackouts, and very little obstruction. A railing blocks the very front left corner of the stage, but only the actors’ legs are unseen. Telly is audio only; the video for act two begins when the house lights go down and Lavender takes the stage. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes curtain call and playbill scans.

Note: First two minutes is out of focus and missing a few seconds. It’s mostly well shot, but there’s some shakiness/wandering during applause and a small blackout after Seize the Day. Nice closeups and wide-shots for the choreography. The cast is just superb. Rather sad that this show is closing in August. Includes curtain call. Filmed two months before Newsies closed
Newsies - August 23, 2014 - Broadway
Jack Kelly: Corey Cott, Katherine Plummer: Liana Hunt, Davey: Ben Fankhauser, Crutchie: Andy Richardson, Joseph Pulitzer: John Dossett, Medda Larkin: Capathia Jenkins This was the second to last performance on Broadway and the last performance open to the public. The energy from the cast and audience is palpable. There are entrance applauses for everyone, as well as for some of the greatest lines in the show, and a standing ovation for Seize the Day before the first act was even over. Definitely a must-see for any fan of the show. Act one has a few issues, but act two is much better. There is a one-minute blackout during Santa Fe (prologue). Carrying the Banner and the following scene in Newsie Square alternate between being blacked out or severely obstructed by a railing. There is a six-minute blackout from about halfway through The World Will Know through the scene at Jacobi’s Deli. Act two only has a two-minute blackout for the first scene, and a one-minute blackout during King of New York. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes curtain call and playbill scans.

Note: Highlights include Carrying the Banner, The World Will Know, Seize the Day, King of New York, Letter from the Refuge. Crystal clear audio. Filmed from the first and second row of the balcony. Spotlight washout, no visible faces, some head blocking and a bar blocks some of the action. Letters from the Refuge is very blurry and out of focus. However this is the first footage of the tour and a lot of the dancing is very visible. Audio from this performance available as well. Ben Cook (Race) does the pirouettes in Seize the Day, unlike Specs in the Broadway production.

Masters Notes- The first few minutes are blacked out for Leave while the house lights are on, but it picks up toward the end of the song and the show is perfectly captured from there with no blackouts, or obstruction. There is a bit of washout in a couple wideshots in act two, but nothing major. As usual, it’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups, and the sound is excellent. Includes curtain call and playbill scans.A+

Phantom of The Opera - 2013 ~ 25th Anniversary UK Tour
The Phantom of the Opera: Earl Carpenter, Christine Daee: Katie Hall, Raoul, Vicomte de Chagny: Simon Bailey, Carlotta Giudicelli: Angela M Caesar, Monsieur Firmin: Andy Hockley, Monsieur Andre`: Simon Green, Madame Giry: Elizabeth Marsh, Ubaldo Piangi: Vincent Pirillo, Meg Giry: Hannah Cadec. A beautiful caputre in 16:9 wide-screen featuring Katie Hall as Christine, who has a superb voice I found that Katie plays Christine as a much younger character, differently to any way I have seen the leading lady portrayed before. This added new dimensions to the character of Christine, making her more vulnerable to the Phantom and easily manipulated. Personally I really enjoy this touring production much more than the original staging. I find that the changes works better. Unfortunately the only problem with this recording is that due to late comers part of Music of the Night is missing.A

River - December 26, 2014 Broadway
The Man: Hugh Jackman The Woman: Cush Jumbo The Other Woman: Laura Donnelly A nice capture of one of this year’s most talked about plays. A very intimate, thoughtful, and charming story; Hugh Jackman gives a great performance, as does the supporting cast. This is a good capture overall with no washout, very little obstruction, and only a couple short dropouts. There is one head that can occasionally be seen, but does not affect the action, and there are a couple scenes that are a bit dark and hard to see. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is a bit buzzy sometimes, and there is some occasionally shuffling, but all dialogue is listenable. Includes curtain call, audio only of Hugh’s BC/EFA speech and auction, and playbill scans.

Great show with a very enthusiastic audience. There are heads at the bottom of the screen sometimes because people kept leaning forward and some shaky moments, but mostly a focused steady shot with nice close-ups.

Note: The first act is filmed from the side, so thereís a bar in the way sometimes and stage left is blocked, and it is slightly more shaky than usual. Great close-ups though. The second act is much better, steady and unobstructed. Missing a few minutes in the end of Act 2.
Newsies – March 17th, 2012

Newsies - June 2014 - Broadway
Corey Cott (Jack Kelly), Ben Fankhauser (Davey), Liana Hunt (Katherine), Andy Richardson (Crutchie), Luca Padovan (Les), Julie Reiber (Medda), John Dossett (Joseph Pulitzer)
Newsies - October 25, 2014 - Tour - Highlight (mp4) : NFT
Dan DeLuca (Jack Kelly), Zachary Sayle (Crutchie), Stephanie Styles (Katherine), Jacob Kemp (Davey) Anthony Rosenthal (alt. Les), Ben Cook (Race), John E. Brady (Wisel, Mr. Jacobi, etc.), Steve Blanchard (Pulitzer), Angela Grovey (Medda Larkin), Jeff Heimbrock (Spot Conlon), Kevin Carolan (Roosevelt), Mark Aldrich (Seitz), Sky Flaherty, Jodan Smauels, DeMarius R. Copes, Julian DeGuzman, Nico DeJesus, Jack Sippel, Joshua Burrage, Ginna Claire Mason, Meredith Inglesby, Michael Ryan, Jon Hacker, Bill Bateman, James Judy, Chaz Wolcott

Beautiful capture of the full original cast, from the orchestra. This hands down is the best capture of the original cast. This was done early in Alice's run, before she had strained her voice. Wonderful to revisit this show in all its glory! A+ Wish I Were Here is Missing from Act 2.

Pippin - October 26, 2014 eve - Tour
Leading Player: Sasha Allen, Pippin: Matthew James Thomas, Charles: John Rubinstein, Berthe: Andrea Martin, Catherine: Kristine Reese, Fastrada: Sabrina Harper, Lewis: Callan Bergmann, Theo: Lucas Schultz. The first capture of the new US Tour. Sasha is a very sassy Leading Player with great vocals, and Matthew’s performance feels fresh and new after his Broadway run. The audience has a lot of energy, and it made for great performances all around, especially during the interactive bits like No Time at All.
This is a perfect capture no blackouts, no obstruction, and only a bit of washout in the wide shots. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes curtain call and playbill scans. A+
Pippin - December 30, 2014 Broadway
Leading Player: Carly Hughes Pippin: Josh Kaufman Charles: John Dossett Berthe: Priscilla Lopez Catherine: Rachel Bay Jones Fastrada: Charlotte d’ Amboise Lewis: Mike Schwitter Theo: Eli Tokash A great capture from the last week of performances before the show closed on Broadway. Josh has a great voice, and Carly is charming. Includes a different balancing act at the top of act two than the one I’ve seen before. This is a very nice capture with just some slight washout in the wides, a couple quick dropouts, and only minor obstruction; there is one head that occasionally blocks the actors feet at the front/left of the stage. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes curtain call and playbill scans.
